Branding
Our goal
Lishani contacted us as the next step in taking her photography seriously as a business, after enjoying it as a hobby and dipping a toe in paid work. Coming to us with a few name ideas in mind, we worked together to land on the one which felt most significant and representative of her. Moonstone comes from the ancient Sri Lankan sandakada pahana which are ornately carved stones found at the entrances to places of worship. They depict the life cycle from birth and earthly desires, to nirvana.
Using this symbol as a texture allowed us to abstract it from its original form, as Lishani didn't want to pigeon-hole herself too much with strong symbolism. Her work is for all people and what mattered more was the style of the brand and who that would speak to. Elements of the esoteric mixed with a modern type speaks clearly to her target audience - those who are spiritual or seeking more, those who connect with nature and their surrounds, and people who care for other people with words and actions from the heart.
